When the lake is healthy it does something for your spirit – your wairua
Pae tū Mōkai o Tauira is a group of Featherston residents who are dedicated to bringing about positive change in their community through active involvement in restoration projects such as their Hügelkultur plot. With a strong foundation in tikanga Māori values, they collaborate widely with other groups and organisations striving for a healthier future for Wairarapa Moana. Memories of the Featherston lake swim recall a time – only a few decades ago – when Lake Wairarapa was deep enough, cold enough and clean enough to swim in.
