Lake Te Kahika is a unique lake with a pH of about 4 which prevents submerged vegetation from growing in the lake. The lake is approximately 14.1 hectares in size with a maximum depth of 11.1 m and is located near Te Kao. Lake Te Kahika is situated in a forestry dominated catchment, surrounded by a fringe of manuka scrub. The pines have recently been harvested around the lake.
